Okay thanks for the tips guys. I think I'll hold off on medicating unless I see symptoms. I've been told the fish I'm planning on getting, dartfish, anthias, wrasses and assessors are more on the delicate side and that I should be careful with any medications.

Well I've got my 20L, a foam filter, an air pump, a heater and some pvc. Going to start seeding the foam filter in my sump tonight. How long do you guys think it will take in there before I can set it up in the quarantine?

The problem is most of the time they don't show up and once they do is already too late you already have them in your display tank. Pretty much defeats the purpose of quarantine. Reason to treat everything before it goes in.

Anyone have an answer for how long I need to seed the sponge filter in my sump before I can start up the quarantine tank?

I have my return pump sitting on a 5x5" sponge/foam pad in my sump. Would this have enough bacteria to start up the quarantine or speed up the process?

Dang okay, I was hoping 2 weeks would be a safe number but a month is probably better. I was hoping for two weeks. I'm thinking maybe the sponge sitting in my sump will help kick start the process.

Also depend on what fish you going to qt first. I jump the gun one time and seed the sponge for 2 weeks and I was not able to get the ammonia level down.

You can always use Dr Tim and start with small fish first.

I was planning on quarantining two dartfish first.

Actually the order of the fish was my other question. I'm planning on getting 2 dartfish, 1 Midas blenny, 2 assesors, 3 anthias, 3 wrasses and a Bangai Cardinal. This is in a 130 gallon mixed reef. Not exactly sure what order I should quarantine/add the fish in.

Aggressive fish last. Assessor is a very shy fish. They should be one of the first as they need good hiding places (especially if they are yellow and a pair). With the other fish, I have less experience.

180 liter, sumpless reef, no skimmer for the moment.

Current Tank Info: Juwel VISION 180, currently only invertebrates, planning to have low bioload as I have no skimmer and no refugium for the moment.

So a couple follow up questions now that my QT has been up and running:

1) I've had 4 anthias in the QT for 12 days now. They are all healthy and eating and I haven't noticed any weird behavior. Do I really need to wait another 3 or 4 weeks before I can move them to the display or can I just transfer them now?

2) My next fish purchase is going to be two yellow ORA assessors. Do I need to even QT these fish considering they are coming from ORA?

3) I've been doing 5 gallon water changes for the QT every 3 or 4 days. By the 4th day the Ammonia is at 0.50 on the API test. Is this an okay level?
