Bad Salifert Nitrate Kit?
Greetings!
I just bought a new nitrate salifert kit because I noticed mine expired a few months ago. I did a few tests with both to see how different they where and my God, the difference is drastic... I have heard that when kits expire, they loose accuracy, but is this expected from an expired kit? The expired one says its over 25 ppm and the new one 0ppm. |

Inaccuracies in salifert nitrate kits is the reason I switched back to Red Sea Pro for nitrates. With the Red Sea Pro, kit to kit they always come out the same.

I'm not sure which one might be correct. In theory, taking a water sample to a local fish store and having a test run might help. Given that the kit has expired, though, I wouldn't particularly trust it.

I bought a new Redsea nitrate pro test kit, it comes in tomorrow, I will update this post with my results. Hopefully the old salifert kit was just bad
