Skimmer for 110 gal

Hi everyone,

I have read a lot of threads on this forum. I had 3 skimmer so far, and I have never been satisfied (CPR BakPack, ASG-G3, MQ-Tech Aquatic). Most of the time, I had no real budget... but this is less of a problem now.

I am stun to see no real comparison review between skimmers, and the more I read threads, the more I feel like either I can't go wrong, or that I will...

My perfect skimmer will:
  • not be noisy (My Vortech MP-40 is borderline)
  • efficient for a medium to heavy bioload (110 g + 40 g sump)
  • very easy to maintain and set (Water level) (I travel a lot for work)
  • cost less than 1 000$
  • make me feel I invested in the right stuff for at least 2 years

Any idea?

Should I gone cone or not?

ATB, Bubble king, Vertex, RS-extrem SWC, Octopus... ARRRGNN!!!

I am willing to pay the price for quality, but not just for the brand.

I live in Quebec Canada... sorry about my english (we speak french up here).

ATB all the way. You cannot go wrong with the ATB's. I'd go for their small cone or the 840. Go to ATB's website and click on skimmate. Some of those pictures should come with smell o vision. If they did I don't think you'd want to be withing 100 feet of your computer.

+2 for ATB. Also may check out the I-tech's, they seem to have happy customers.

My 2 favorite things about Quebec, The Gatinaeu River and poutine, awesome place.

The only ATB distributor in Canada does not offer the skimmers on his Website. Not sure I want to go with a sole distributor either (competitive price).

The SWC is an intriguing prospect.

Also found this on ATB and Vertex.

Well if the distributor problem is an issue you could consider a Deltec, Bubble King, or Vertex. Also the new skimz skimmer line looks really nice also.

Also the SRO line up of the Octopus skimmers are really popular now.
