Fox Face possible fin rot?
Hi all,
I have a fox face. I got him a month ago. My tank is newly cycled and its been about 2 months since its been up and running so its a very new tank. I have noticed the fins are not torn or tattered but they seem to have been progressively shrinking in size since he has been added to my tank. The fins are normal in shape over all but just shrinking with a slight brown edge to them all around. Does this sound like fin rot? Or could it be something else? |

Sounds like fin rot. I would do a big water change to see if that stops it before treatment.

I would put him in a HT and start treatment right away . Usually antibiotics are used to treat fin rot . The edges of fins can regrow but there comes a point of no return . When too much tissue is lost regrowth doesn’t occur . What that point is I can’t tell . Sitting and waiting may allow it to get to that point and then you will have a fox face forever damaged . Just my .02

Ok so an update on it. Was using API Marine Melafix amd following treatment directions. Did this for about a week and saw no improvment.
Went out and bought some EM from API. Been treating the tank woth that and im seeing some of the brown edge to go away. Im guessing its fin rot. Thankyou guys. Its just weird that every other fish in the tank is fine. |
