Any tips on removing glass holes boxes?

I'm planning to swap out my glass holes overflow box for an Eshopps, but since the tank is already running I want to have as many of my Is dotted and Ts crossed before I start the process.

Any tips on removing the bulkhead/nut that secures the glass holes box in place? There is VERY little room inside the box to work/access the nut, and the box has been in place for a couple of years.

I'm going to run into Petco today to see if they have any tanks in my size, just in case the worst happens.

Nah. I doubt you'll have any issues.

someone had a plastic wrench listed a few years back that made it easier to get in there. I've used both the tool and a large pair on channel locks with no issue. when you install don't over tighten it!

does the e-shopps line up with the existing holes?

Can't say for sure, but it's awful close either way.

I can't tell for sure, but it looks like the slots might on the box might end up too high installed at the same height as a glass holes.

Can they be cut deeper with a router?

I don't follow. Are you saying the internal box, with the teeth, might be too tall? I'm expecting to have to cut the teeth off/down. I have no problem doing that.

Yeah, but it looks like you might have to cut them quite a lot. It looks like the bulkhead is configured significantly lower. if you have a rimmed tank you may have to either cut the plastic lip of the rim or cut into the back of the box as well to make it fit.

Got the new drain plumbing dry fitted. Fitted it matter how high or low I put the valve on a Herbie setup?

Any concerns or suggestions?
