The Mini’s use a small and heavily modified Askoll block. A regular Maxflo will not work. What generation Mini 160 do you have? Does it have the AKB which is the red tube that connects the pumps pressure side to the rear of the block?

So you don’t have the AKB on the pump? That would make it a first generation. The maxflow 1350 uses a MUCH more powerful block and it will change the characteristics of the pump due to rotational speeds which will in turn impact the performance of the Mini 160 skimmer which uses a completely different speed motor. If it were me, I’d get the correct pump that includes the base plate.
