New Mag added to the tank
What do you all think? It's the first nem my snowflake clowns have hosted in and they look as happy as 2 pigs in a mug.. I think the nem looks healthy too (knock on wood)

New Mag added to the tank

Thank you, I'm pretty stoked! 4 days. I know most recommend 5-7, but I had reasons to take it out early. I honestly don't think it needed it from the get go though. It came in pretty healthy. This is what it looked like when it came in. It was obvi pretty p.o'd and the mouth was open, but I think it's pretty much made a full recovery (again, knock on wood) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by BClute; 02/05/2018 at 08:27 PM. |

New Mag added to the tank
Had to upload 1 more with both clownfish in the picture.. they seem to love it!! Can anyone chime in and advise when I should start feeding it? I don't want to stress it out too soon. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I am assumming you have good light? I think i have the same kind mag as yours, mine is about 12 to 18inches across. I started feeding my with mysis after two or three weeks in the DT and confirmed it still looked healthy. But now its been over 4 months. Now i started feeding mine silver side. I switch to silver side because i think it needed more food. I give it one silver side cut into about 4 or 5 pieces to feed it weekly. I might increase it to twice a week but im monitoring to make sure its ok.

Thanks for the response! I run LEDs, and have my controller set at about 60% so they should be plenty powerful. Can always turn them up if need be. Your mags gonna be huge if you're feeding silversides twice a week! Not that that's a bad thing lol. Do you have a pic of yours? I'd love to see it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Silversides are a bad idea. Feed something meant for human consumption. Those silversides are not handled well enough after being caught to be sure they are not rotten. Plenty of people have killed Anemones with them. I use wild caught shrimp or fish on the rare occasion that I actually feed my mag or gigs. |

The grocery store near me sells silver side for human consumption, would that be ok? They already took the head off and took the guts out?

I would assume that if it's for human consumption it would be more than fine for the nem as far as bacteria and cleanliness.. I don't think you'd need to de head it, but I guess couldn't hurt.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Why take a chance, silversides have been problematic for many nem keepers including myself, just too many safer options IMO.
Really no spot feeding even needed if light is good, and smaller foods like mysis are less stressful and more like what they would normally be taking in regularly in the wild.
