Hermits- small vs large

When your dwarf hermits get to large do you trade them out for smaller ones? I used have six small blue leg hermits and now I am down to three larger ones (in shells about the size of a quater). I like the larger ones they are fun to watch but they don't seem to be doing as good of a job at cleaning up hair algea.

Does any body do this? My LFS said he would trade them out, but I don't know if that means he tosses them.

Advice?

I doubt he tosses them. I'm sure he'll re-sell them to someone else. In my experience, larger hermits can start doing some damage. I'd stick with small ones if you can.
