That looks like the run of the mill chromis to me.. Most good local retail stores should have chromis in stock.. Just make sure you get a bunch of them and feed them a couple times a day. Chromis need to eat frequently to last long and by getting a bunch, you increase your odds of having some of them last.

they look a little more unique I guess. also about 1" bigger than regular chromis.
Since I'm only keeping 1, I kinda wanted the nicer bigger one. I have some anthias too, so I feed about 4x a day of small meaty frozen

well I placed the order from LA. Will receive it Tuesday. hope it's worth the hype.. most expensive chromis EVER. I'd love to get a few of them, but my tank is pretty stocked.
does anyone know LA's specific gravity? I'm preparing the QT, but no one is picking up their phone.

I got two from Jan's Tropical Fish in Montclair a few months ago. They were about $4 and mixed in with regular chromis. I just asked for the ones with black spots under the pectoral fin. I don't know if they still have them now though.
I also saw both mixed in a tank at Seaside Tropical fish in Huntington Beach, but I think it was a display tank and dunno if they'll get the fish for you. I did order two black axil from LA before that, but I ended up receiving regular chromis. I didn't know the difference until I was able to see both kinds in the same tank and see the black spot. |
