The 3gallon noob tank
So I have wanted to have a salt water tank forever and I new I couldn't have anything big so I thought I would give a pico tank a try. I know everyone says that small tanks are hard to keep but so far this one has been fairly easy with just waterchanges and topoffs every few days.
Tank: marineland contour 3 heater: Some german brand I think?I honestly forgot. The temp swings sometimes so I might get a new one pumps: I use a fluval spec pump that I had laying around in the back then I use the pump that came with the tank in the display area. I think its around 100gph total. Lighting: Now the light I have mixxed feelings about. it is veryyyyy purple but hey it only cost 10 bucks on ebay. It is a cheap chinese par38 bulb with a diy fixture made from some zoomed hanger. I think in total it costed me $30. As far as I can tell it is very strong. It bleached the anthelia I have when it was about a foot from the coral. I started out with about 3 pounds of dry rock and a tiny bit of lr for seeding. Inhabitants: 1 yt damsel 1 peppermint shrimp 1 emerald crab 1 scarlet hermit The tank has been up for about 7 months and I recently switched to bb in order to be able to clean it better. |
