Amazing video.

How do you resit the temptation to fill all that space with rocks and ultimately lots of Acroporids? You have extraordinary self-control. I admire you.

I've already had this same glass sttufed with rocks and acros......and that's not what I want, from the beginning.
I think this is the key.

Plus, I'm a very diciplined person.

Alex, I just watched the video on the last page and I'm blown away. You have done a remarkable job with this tank. Just beautiful! I love all the open space. It's something I've never had the discipline to do.

Thanks Connor...
To receive such amount of compliments from reefers like you, Matt, Bulent and many others, that have tanks that I admire, makes all my effort worthwhile.

I shot this video today, with a yellow security glasses (U$1,50 ) in the front of the cam.
The color isn't great, but I get it less blueish.

That middle clam is awesome! Isn't it a Crocea? Are you going to leave it on the sand? I thought they like being able to bore into rock.

Yes it is.
I've always kept mine in sandbed...the problem of put it in the rocks is that if need to move it, you'll have to cut the feet....and this is not an easy thing to do.

Beautiful shots as usual! Love the clams..
I wish I had some open space for clams.. I’ve over jammed my tank with acros!

I used to have five crocea clams. I battled with pyramidellid snails for a long time. I won the battle in the end and then sold them, so that I could move onto my next battle, eradication of aiptasia with a filefish. Do you think a filefish nip at clam mantles? I always thought it does, but I am reading mixed reports.

Hi Bulent.
Never had this fish so I never did any research about it.
If you try, let me know.
I've been dealing with aiptasias since the setup of the tank. Right now, it's running out of control.
I tried berghias, but with no sucess at all.
Now I'm waiting for a reef safe Coperband arive in my LFS.
One way or another, I have to take some extreme measures....

Matted Filefish - Acreichthys tomentosus - is what you want if you want to control or eradicate Aiptasia. They are hit or miss though with corals. I've owned one for a couple years and it more or less left most of my corals alone. Mostly soft corals though with the only LPS being hammer corals. I would see it pick on the hammer from time to time but nothing more than it could recover from. I would also see it pick on my Kenya tree. Again, it was able to manage itself and was never in jeopardy. The Matted Filefish made short work of my Aiptasia problem. It wasn't noticeable per say but over the course of a week I started to see them in decline visually. About two months in I didn't see any.

It would eat pellets, mysis, brine script and even nori. Cool fish, peaceful, changed colors based on what it was near. Slow swimmer, no aggression at all. Would still have it to this day if it didn't start picking on my Xenia I just put a frag in and it started to pick on it. That couldn't recover fast enough so as odd as it sounds I packed up the fish and turned it in for credit

My guess based on what mine did is that it will pick at various corals. Feed it well, daily, and you may have a better chance. It will hunt Aiptasia regardless which is what you want. But mine more or less left everything else alone. I also used a automatic fish feeder with a mix of pellets and flake. It ran in the morning and afternoon just to drop a few bits in...

The CPB is a lot prettier no doubt. So much so that I hope to get one in my new tank. It is on my short list. In any case best of luck and have a wonderful weekend!

So............................

My pumps arrived!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I have 2 Gyres XF150 in the back panel (continuous mode 80%) and 2 Icecap 3K in the front glass (Random mode 10~70%).
Both vertical mounted with propeller cages out of fase with each other.
Great pumps.....a lot of water being pushed through the reef.
For now I'll keep my Vortech MP40 running. Just push it to the middle of the right panel glass and put it in Reef Crest mode.
Getting a very difuse, strong and alternate flow.
I'm very happy with it.

Plus, I learned how to use Vegas PRO and now I can make the corals have their real colour in the vídeos.
Later I'll upload some.

I have a single Gyre - the XF250 in my tank. It seems pretty cool so far while the tank is cycling but honestly not sure how to use it just yet (haven't read the docs). So it is just on, spinning up and down doing whatever - lol. Do you hear yours at all? I hear a very high pitch whine has it ramps up. I'm guessing I should probably read the docs and see how to set it. Since it isn't blowing my sand around I sort of figured it was ok for now. Obviously I'm wrong.

The Icecaps are the same thing has the gyre, right? A licensed product I think - I've not ready up much on them.

Yes...they're a little loud....
Maybe to disassemble and to clean it reduces the noise.

Icecaps are pretty much the same as Gyre....but it comes in a more simple box, with a more simple manual, with almost no spare parts.....basically to cost less.
This is the way that Maxspect found to face up the Jecod pump
