1/4 Inch ro tubing to brute container

Hi All, I'm setting up an auto water change but I don't want to just dangle the 1/4 inch line in my brute container so i'm trying to figure out a way to use a bulk head or similar but I can't find anything.

My original plan was to use the BRS 1/4 inch push connect bulkhead but it turns out to be a dry fitting only.

anyone do something similar?

Want it mounted on the the lid or bottom of the brute?

I use a mini float valve on my brute to connect my RO line.

You can use the push fitting. I did it. Just have to get a washer on it

I want it on the side toward the bottom.

really? it seems kinda weak, I'm not looking for a divorce if it leaks.

Like the one that shuts off the RO line when it's full? I thought about that but wasn't sure what was involved

And how is your tank bulkhead constructed? Same way

Yes. not sure if that's how you want yours.

Pretty easy install.

Drill hole for valve. connect hose and you are done.

As mentioned above. Get a John Guest 1/4” bulkhead. Home Depot and Lowes sell them without the seal though. You could use the rubber seal from a garden hose to make it water tight. Just put the seal on the inside. I’ve been using the John Guest style bulkheads in my 100 gallon RODI tank for years as well as in my sump and never had leaks. Granted, I always buy the ones that come with the seal. I normally get them from Spectrapure or other online sources.

I did the above use an adjustable float valve. I then adjusted the float to the lowest possible setting. Then the actual water level never reaches the bulkhead. Mine is water tight, but I also don’t allow the water to reach it.

*face palm* I used silicone to seal it. Glued that puppy in tight. Never crossed my mind to look for a gasket type seal.

I’m sure you’re not the first to do that and won’t be the last. I use these or the ones from Lowes and add an oring or garden hose seal.

I do the same and they last a very long time with RO water. With kalk or tapwater, not so much. I have been using the same float valve for about 10 years. Probably time to change it now LOL

I ended up ordering the spectrapure bulkhead and it came really fast I was shocked. I haven't had time to put it in yet, my 6 month old makes these little projects difficult which is one of the reasons I want an auto water change. Hope to set everything up this weekend.

If you want to avoid potential leak by drilling the bottom, you could drill it on top and have a line inside the brute that drops to the bottom of the container.

everything is setup and auto water changes are up and running. it's been about a month since my last change and I already see my duncans coming back (their usually the first to show signs of bad water). I just got a notification that my second AWC is complete 2.5 gallons 5 times a week in a 90G.
