Glad you're happy with it. I just can't believe how powerful they are and well built for the very low price.

I'm doing some rockwork and adding some new corals tomorrow so I'm going to try and add my second 800 as long as I can get it adjusted so my Euphyllia and Duncan's don't get blown to badly around.

I'm getting another as a spare. two of these are actually a bit overkill in the 93 cube.

The 520's are much lower profile. They stick out almost as far but they are slimmer and the fan is blue instead of white so less noticeable. They just look sleeker. I switched from 3x 800 to 4x 520 in my 55 and I like it better.

Bought one to use in my 75g, but it's too powerful and if you use a wave maker the constant clicking sound when powered on and off gets to be real annoying. Still a good deal for the price, I use mine to mix salt now.

10-month update... my $9 powerhead. Just cleaned it for the first time. Still running; still silent.

seamonster thanks for bringing this thread up again, mine are doing well too. I'm still only using one in my 40b along with my return line from my Mag 7. I do swap them out every two months to clean and then when I am ready to swap out again, I've got both a Sunsun 800 and a Mag 7 both ready to go for the swap out. It's a good feeling knowing that I have a spare for each pump

I've had one for 2 years now. Works perfectly. Only downside is my clip broke to hold the suction. Now I'm going to use it to mix salt

What size powerhead do you guys recommend for my 30 gallon tank? I plan on doing LPS/Soft Corals and maybe even some easy SPS corals. Im in the process of planning out a 30 gallon. I'v been looking at powerheads and most of the time they are $50+. I might snag two of those

Why not get 4 for $20. They have a surprisingly good track record.

Nick, you have nothing to worry about with these powerheads. I bought two to use in my 40b and I can only run one along with my overflow from a Mag 7. Two of these 800 gph pumps is way too much for my 40b. I'm sure you can do like I did and get two and only run one and either keep the other for backup or do a swap out once a month or two and do a good cleaning on it. This way you will always have a good working spare.

I recently bought a magnet mount that is Awesome. It was $12 and using only one pump at a time I only needed to buy one.

All 4 of mine are still going strong. I have used them for various things in the past 10 months. Other than the mount coming off the acrylic tanks a few times, they work great.
If you don't 'need' a controlloable power head, these are a bargain.

I have a few more questions. Do you recommend the magnet mount? Second will just one 800gph powerheads be sufficet for lps and some easy sps corals? I'm worried because it's just one powerhead, rather than 2 weaker powerheads, like 550gph ones. With just 1 800gpg powerhead it's turning my tank over 25x. For lps that should be sufficent, and I have even heard you need up to 40x for some sps. I'm just worried there will be deadspots... Third, are they loud? Reason I ask is because this tank is going into our living room.

Magnet for sure. I hate the suction. If the clip breaks it can allow the powerhead to fall and cause a sand storm. Magnets are not as likely. I would go with 2 800 gph minimum as you will quickly learn it's not as much as it seems. 1600gph sounds like a lot, but when you see it, it's not. And you can always point it toward the top. And third, they are not loud. As someone stated earlier you just have to watch sometimes when they get unplugged they sometimes start backwards. Not very often though

They didn't do so well for me.
They were great for about a year, so the value was great.
Unfortunate, in they all developed bare wire where the cord meet the powerhead.
So not the safest purchase I have ever made.
All of them went in the trash.
