Open or closed hood?
I'm finalising the design of my hood which I'll start building this Saturday. I'd like to find out the likelihood of fish jumping out of the tank. I was thinking of NOT putting a cover on the front and back of the hood for better circulation. Would this be a good idea?
And if not, what material would you suggest that wouldn't look but but allowed good air circulation? Probably a mesh of some sort?

depends on the fish you buy as far as jumping.

You could always use eggcrate. I have it on the top of my tank. Nice wide open grid for good circulation and low light loss.
