I would run one if only to help oxygenate. They can be messy eaters though.

For temp and salinity just go for normal reef params, sg 1.026 temp of around 78

If you’re new to saltwater don’t get a peacock right away. They are deep water species, a bit fragile. Some of the smaller smashers are pretty damn resilient though.

I recommend a protein skimmer for overall aquarium health since it is a more effective tank cleaning system than a HOB filter or refugium. If possible, I would run both a protein skimmer and grow macroalgae in either a HOB refugium or in a sump. That and small (5%) water changes every 2 weeks is what always worked for me.
