I have been trying to get my light to rise and set from east triangle. I have copied my custom settings, clicked east triangle but it never seems to work. Any ideas ?
Thanks skud.

Have you tried to do it from scratch in Expert mode?

If you haven't seen my video, check the second half out for steps to configure the fixture:

New Vertex owner, SR1500/260 also added 3 reds and 2 UVs. Going over a 24x24x72 180gal reef. Currently running T5s and have been for almost a year. Need suggestions of the power settings I should start off with. SPS, LPS, Inverts

You will need to experiment it but I believe you need to tune the lights way down first and see the corals' reaction. For example, RB and B - 50 %, white 30%. UV -20% (you may not be able to turn the UV on right now until Vertex releases the firmware for it) and Red 15%.

Thanks notclear. How is that 6' over your 72' tank. They told me to get a 5' over my 72'. They said the light spread would be more than enough. I don't want a lot of light spread out of the tank.

I have the 72" over my 72" tank but I would agree what most people suggest to get the 5' fixture, unless you want to place sps on the sides as well.

Lunar cycle on mine is gray and not selectable. I do have the date/time/days until full moon programmed.

An additional question, is what does ambient light range do and what are the two sliders for?

With the ’Ambient Light Range’ you can select LED-pad-area that shines during the night.
With ‘Apply Ambient Range’ this setting will be transmitted to the device.

Does that mean the further the "Ambient Range" tabs are apart, the wider the coverage you'll get with the moonlight? There is not any icon of the led pads on the screen. I hit the "Moon" tab and proceeded to compose colors, but I didn't see any lights at all as I adjusted the intensity level. I was able to do expert programming just fine for the day setting. What am I doing wrong for the moon setting?

Can anyone point me to a manual for the Vertex desktop? I've found the firmware and have been playing around with the settings and all and think I get the basics for a program, but when I go to close it gives me a message saying actual startup settings not set or something along those lines. Any insight is appreciated, and my apologies if I overlooked something on here.

I believe all you need to do is hit the "Start up setting" tab to the right of the right of the "Day & Moon Program" tab before quitting the program. This should store the fixture's setting to its flash memory.

I tried to upload the pdf manual here, but it said that I've exceeded the forum's limit for this type of file. If you really want it, PM me and I'll send it to you in an email.

My understanding is Yes (I have never tried though): if the slider on the top is at the farthest left and the bottom one at the farthest right, the moonlight covers the entire length of the fixture. And if now you just move the bottom slider to the middle, then the moonlight only covers the left to the middle of the LED fixture. So basically moonlight covers the area of the fixture in between the two sliders.

You can experiment this and post the result, thanks.

This explanation makes perfect sense based on my experiments last night for the first time after getting the light. I was playing around with the sliders and couldn't figure out why some were on and some were out when I was moving those darn sliders around. After reading this description that is exactly what was happening, good catch!

Thanks for your help. You are right. The 2 slider tabs determine how wide the moonlight coverage will be once you click on the "Apply Ambient Range" button. The reason why I wasn't getting any moonlight was because I had both slider bars together one on top of another.

Thanks for the explanation on the sliders. I'll experiment with it tonight.
