Diy reef rock ready for livestock?
I just finished aquascaping my 150g with diy reef rock. I had the rocks in large containers with running water and pumps for about 4-5 weeks, and inside the tank for similar time with 4 water changes using RO water (last two were with saltwater) and main circulating pump running.
How will I know for sure the tank is ready for the cycleling process? Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk |

Its been cycling already for 2 weeks (once it was in saltwater)
What process/material did you use to construct the rocks?

I used white Portland cement, white sand (aquarium sand) and crushed coral, and rock crystal (the kind used for water softer).

Looks good.
Test the pH to see if the rocks are ready. |

It looks really good, two or three years in a tank and it will look fantastic...but....is it porous ??

The pH is around 8.7 and as far as the porosity, I think it's pourus enough.
BTW: thanks for your interest Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk |

Reason for my concern is that I have a 10 year old hippo tang in a 30g cube, and want to transfer it in the new tank as soon as possible,

You need to continue curing the rock via frequent water changes/time.. That pH is still a bit too high for sustaining life properly at this point..
Patience..
