With this new pump, wouldn't the flow of water just be in one continuous motion?
Coralvue vid showed modes on it and the 1st vid from BRS they talked about changing modes reversing flow, controller and making change from your phone as well.

Edit Each side can be directed up or down independently on the two bigger models

That's true, I remember them going over that. I'm very curious to see how it does when it reaches the market. I love my vortechs but if people have success with them, I might consider it on a new setup.

Color me unimpressed - seems like another accoutrement for the emperor. I'd not want that monstrosity in my tank. Not entirely sure how this improves things over a couple of power heads on one side of the tank. Gyre is a macro system phenomenon, not micro, so really doesn't emulate the environment .....

Am I the only one that thinks they look like single-ended and double-ended light sabers?

Looks like a good bit of innovation.

Would you need 1 or 2 of these for an 8x2x2 tank?

Oh noooo... instead of people wrongly comparing Jaebos to Vortechs, now they're comparing this new product to a Tunze Wave Box.

I want one!

Hah, was a bit testy wasn't I? Just too many of these things have come and gone over the years to get too giddy over yet another device. Maybe it'll be great and I'll be looking for a hat to eat - but I suspect not.

the irony here is that I was the one stressed out when I wrote that, I'll try and keep passive aggression off the forums in the future, lol. Sounds like I need more time in front of the fish tank less time dealing with actual life :-) hopefully my wife agrees haha

If you watch it again there's a powder tang (i think?) at 0:45 that is cleaning the front inside of one the tunze's. It looks like they had the powerheads turned off for the demonstration.

CoralVue had the pleasure of placing their Maxspect RipTide prototype in the 300gal SPS masterpiece aquarium of Chicagos' own and former Reef Central TOTM, Menard Villaber. Watch as we capture Menard's first impression and his feedback on the new Riptide Gyre Generating flow pump by Maxspect. See the Riptide in action on a 300gal (8ft x 2ft x 30in) Oceanic glass aquarium. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtRR...ehaU5nflOtUKfw

Any idea of a price yet? Want to know if it is not worth waiting for due to budget.

According to a CoralVue rep the price point will be comparable to other popular prop pumps in the market. I read this as they will compete with Vortech and Tunze. He said they'll have a less expensive version available without a controller.
