GHL & Precision Marine New Toys!

Just testing out flickr since photobucket is no longer an option!

Got some new toys!

My wife ordered me the Precision Marine 5g ATOs as dosing containers for Ca and Alk. They are awesome! The build quality is great. Everything fits together perfectly. They're built like tanks, and the removable lids make access easy. Really like the gallon markers but wish they had liters too. One thing I would have added was a 1/4" bulkhead quick connect union, but I'm just going to use standard 1/4" unions after the tubing comes out of the dosing container.

The new GHL Profilux 4 will take me a while to learn and set up, but I am excited to start getting back into corals after a 2 year break and this controller and the dosing containers are going to help a lot!

Nothing like new toys!

5 gallon dosing containers! You won't need to fill them very often. lol

Nice tanks though. I have the BAO dosing containers, and they did not have a connection either. Drilled out the lid for a 1/4" john guest fitting bulkhead. Easy peasy and looks professionally done.

Yea, I didn't want to be refilling them all the time! Drilling for the 1/4' bulkhead is probably a better idea! Thanks homer! How do you like the BOA containers? Are they 1/4" acrylic? I'm pretty rough on my equipment! They seem to be a little lighter on the website, but they look awesome too! Trying to pick up a Trek.

Yes 1/4" acrylic. They hold just over a gallon, the lids are on hinges, have float valves already mounted for low level indication, and the top and bottom acrylic are channeled where the sides glue in. Makes for a very tough rigid container. I'm very happy with them.

Me personally, I would glue the little plug in place, and drill that for your bulkhead. Edit:Just noticed there are already holes in the lid, just have to drill it out.

Purely out of curiosity, why 3 holes in the plate on the bottom of the container? Tube to draw from, float for low level, and?

I think the extra holes are for extra lines for top off for additional tanks.

Some new updated pics! I'll be setting this equipment up when my wife goes on vacation with my mother-in-law.

Got a smaller dosing container custom made for my frag QT tank! The Precision Marine containers are awesome. Love the bulkheads. Should have asked for them on the larger containers. I can fit my entire arm inside each of the chambers of the smaller dosing container! PM also has Pro Sumps at reduced pricing.

PM makes decent stuff, but the owner is a total douche. Years ago, I bought a sump from them and emailed customer service many times to no avail. I finally posted on my local reef forum and left a bad review. The owner got back to me and basically sounded like he wanted to fight (literally, a fist fight or something). They’re local to me (like a mile from my house!) and a friend that owned a LFS would go up there to buy stuff. He said the owner would be stumbling around their shop drunk most of the time. Not a company I’d ever do business again with, even though I’d love to since they’re local to me. Anyway, they do make nice stuff, but it’s overpriced and from my experience, there’s much better products for the money.

Sorry, I’m not trying to poo on your thread, but I felt obligated to say something as a warning to others.

Sorry you had that experience. I’ve owned lots of PM stuff for years and never had a problem with any of my gear or customer service. One time I ordered years ago, they threw in som free sponges for my reactor. Again wish you had a better experience.

I have a Rubbermaid stock tank as a sump and a filter sock box I built myself. PM has their Pro sumps and drop boxes on sale and I was thinking of adding a more traditional sump or replacing my filter sock box with their drop box.

Still waiting on an extra power bar, a mechanical sensor, and an optical sensor. But I have the doser to go with the dosing containers.

Looking good what is the skinny liquid container? The drop in sump adapter what is that used for? Do you add it to a make shift sump like a old tank?

The drop in sump adapter in my pic holds the filter sock and has a couple of baffles. I use LaCl for PO4 and started using 10 micron socks for this purpose. I was using 50 and 100 micron before. The skinny dosing container with the green tubing is for Mag. I’m using IO but may switch back to Reef Crystals once the frags come out of QT. The small 3 chamber container is for the frag QT. Also, I have an awesome MRC Kalkreactor that I used when I was doing corals before in my 46g.
