Ran into a local guy here in StL who has had a blue gigantea for the last 3-4 years. He went to the LFS and told them he wanted a blue carpet so they ordered him the gigantea.

He didnt know it was a gigantea til I told him. His only other anemones are RBTA's and a tiny rock flower anemone (E.crucifer)

Its still doing great in his tank and looks gorgeous......I hate him.

Gary i got rid of my kliens it would nip the underside of my mags when they balled up. I will post a pic when i get to a cpu of all the nips on it.

Butterflys are dangerous and an anemone in the wild has no chance against a school of kliens. I think it is possible for a mertens or crispa or gigantea to split but only after subcummkng to massive damage.

My Klein's does nip at the gigantea in my aquarium. It nips at everything. Fortunately (for the fish!) damage is minimal to whatever it's picking at.

Gary their bites are weak cause it couldnt puncture the mags base. They look like horseshoe shapes.

Gary your tank has always amazed me over the years and watching it change. People can learn allot from you and your tank gives everyone something to strive for, it sets the bar high. . I love the large colonies.. Absolutely amazing.

What clowns are hosted by your H.magnifica? My Percs get downright hostile towards anyone/thing that comes w/in proximity to my H.magnifica's.

They were LAtz

I had a pair of latz.

The kliens wouldnt only do it when the anemone balled up and the clowns were thrown off track now.

Now with the pair of gasters no one gets close to the anemone.

yes and thanx, EC.

You might be interested in knowing that Klein's Butterfly nips gigantea tentacles and keeps them from getting "shaggy" long.

That's very interesting that it nips the tentacles....
I would think the nematocysts would prevent that from happening.
I could see it nipping the column or the underside of the oral disc, but the tentacles???

Hmm...

BTW,

What is the blue coral growing under the purple cap and above and to the right of the Birdsnest corals in this picture:

Wow....I just saw this thread and that tank is amazing. I love your angel fish as well - stunning. I see that you run a bare bottom as well. One could only wish to have a tank this incredible - it's a piece of art work!
