Ok thanks. If I get both a male and female will the solarenis be acceptable or will it be too aggressive with my other fish and cause major problems?

Females, in the case of fairy wrasses are more aggressive than males. I tend to suggest avoiding aggression for long term stability of the stocking population.

The reef central recommendation for a Hepatus tang is 240 gallons. It has also been our experience that 90% of planned upgrades never happen.

Looking to add to my all b.t.a anemone tank.

1 bicolor bleeny In general more than one blenny will not do well as they occupy the same ecological niche
1 midas bleeny
1 tail spot bleeny
1 diamond watchman goby
1 redhead goby.
Purple firefish
Blue gudgeon dartfish
Bartlett anthia anthias do best in tanks 75 gallons or larger and anthias need to be fed multiple times per day

Hello my tank is a 75 gallon display and a 40 gallon sump with liver rock and chaeto. The display is mainly dominated by SPS and 2 clams. I already have the following habitants

1 Black percula
1 Sadleback (quite territorial)
1 Tomini Tang
1 Chormis
1 Yellow watchman goby
1 Blood Red Fire Shrimp

I´ve just lost my mystery wrasse, disappear...

My intention is to add

1 PINSTRIPE MALE MELANURUS or 1 Golden Wrasse
1 Flame Angel or 1 Midas Blenny

Thank you in advance with your advice

Hello,

35gal, mostly LPS, 8 months old tank

Current stock:
- 1x Koumansetta hectori
- 1x Royal Gramma
- 2x A. ocellaris

I was thinking of adding 1 (or a pair?) Flasher Wrasse, like Paracheilinus rubricaudalis or Paracheilinus flavianalis. Yes or no?

Other options:
1-2 Ostorhinchus cyanosoma
or
1 Firefish

Merry Christmas

Flasher wrasses, especially paired, require a bit larger tank

Other options:
1-2 Ostorhinchus cyanosoma
or
1 Firefish this would do well

Merry Christmas

Excellent stocking plan. Be aware that a chalk bass is not safe for very small shrimp. The pistol shrimp will be fine, however. Happy holidays to you as well!

Hi Steve:

I was wondering what you thought of this stocking plan for the 30G tank in my signature below...

Current stock: 1 Purple Firefish, 1 Yellow Clown Goby

Would like to add in the next few months: 1 Blue/Green Chromis and 1 Black and White Clownfish

Thanks for your comments or suggestions and I hope you had a great Christmas!

Hi, I have a 46 gal tank with the following:

2 clowns
6-line wrasse (will likely be removing soon because I think it's a shrimp killer)
purple firefish
snails/hermits
hardy corals

10 gal sump w/ some caulerpa
skimmer

My must haves are:

Midas Blenny
Flame Angel (I know they MAY nip corals)
Cleaner shrimp
Blood Shrimp
Clam

Not a must have, but will probably be adding a Royal Gramma soon unless i get a better idea.

Any other suggestions? I'm not going to be spending much more than $60 on any fish.

I'm thinking a grand total of about 7 fish. I would love a longnose hawk, but I fear it'll eat the shrimps.

I added your signature in red so I would not have to do a memory thing. Chromis have been coming in in poor health recently so I advise against. Also, I am not a believer in crabs of any sort.

Thanks for your comments or suggestions and I hope you had a great Christmas!

All above are fine except the sixline. Yes, a hawkfish will eat shrimp. As those who follow this thread know, I do not provide suggestions but would be very happy to reevaluate any stocking plan.

Hi Steve...thanks for your comments and suggestions. I'm interested in your perspective on why you don't keep crabs of any type. Have you written a blog post about the subject by any chance? Personally, I find them a bit creepy (I have a spider phobia and crabs remind me of spiders) and I know they can go after snails and corals but I keep them because that's what everybody says you need for your CUC.

Again, thanks for your comments and if there's anything else you can share about why it's not a good idea to keep crabs I'd appreciate it!

Ok. Thanks for the input. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be geting rid of the 6-line. I'll keep an eye on my hermits and I'll get rid of them if they get out of hand.

Thanks again

This is what I have:
I have a 75g with 20L sump in which 1/3 of the sump is a refugium with a 4" sand bed with Chaeto. I have 85.5 lbs of now LR in the DT. Currently it is a FOWLR but I will be adding corals once the water is stable enough.

Is this list OK?:
(1) - Kole Tang - it is my showpiece, Great fish

The remaining occupants:
(2) - Black & White Ocellaris Clownfish
(2) - Kaudern's Cardinals
(1) - Skunk cleaner shrimp
(2) - small blue legged hermits
(1) - small cortez hermit
(1) - Large red legged hermit
(1) YWG and a pistol shrimp

I am looking to add a
(1) - One spot Foxface

Your thoughts and comments on this list would be very appreciated.

Again, thanks in advance.

1 Kaudern's Cardinal (Pterapogon kauderni)
1 Orchid Dottyback (Pseudochromis fridmani)
3 Zebra Barred Dartfish (Ptereleotris zebra)

Currently:
Scopas Tang
Blue Hippo Tang

The LFS called the last one a "cat-eel". Bottom feeder.
Sugar-sized sand bed
40 gallon sump with Cheato, rubble, skimmer
I believe the rest is in my sig

No, I have not done a blog post on "why not crabs" but the long and short of it, is that they (with very few exceptions) are opportunistic feeders. Many crabs can take fish, hermit crabs kill snails for their shells, etc. The only exception for me is porcelain crabs.

Yes. The protocol I use here is commenting only on behavioral issues that are a problem, hence no annotation in the previous answer. Sorry, I should have been more explicit. P. fridmani is slightly on the aggressive side but it the least aggressive of the pseudochromis.

Thank you!

The "cat-eel" is a Striped Eel Catfish (Plotosus lineatus)
