Arrow Pink Tip Eats Skunk !!!

Today I got home from work, and I was checking my tank out, trying to look at my 2 skunk cleaner shrimp, That I got the other day, And I could only see one of them in my tank, I was wondering where he had gone, and started looking around, even outside of the tank, Didn't see him anywhere...

Well come to find out guess who got him, My pink tip anemone, He was looking alittle to fat, I could see the colors of the skunks tail in him... I didn't even know that he would try to eat him, I figured he would go after a fish before a shrimp. Guess he got alittle to close and somebody was hungry...

I'm going to try and get a picture of him when he starts to spit out the shrimp, Maybe it will be a cool looking picture.

Thoughts & comments on this would be fine, or stories too...

Thanks

When I read this, I thought it was a condy, which seems to be more likely to do that.

I call it a pink tip, Its also refered to as a Reef Haitian anemone, but their all from the same species, (Condylactis) here is what I bought when I got him...

Marine Depot Live

Other than that no one on my thread about my tank said anything about warning me on this species, they just said that it is too soon to add him to my tank, for how long it has been set up...

Condy's aren't a hosting anemone. Granted once in awhile it might host a clown (or it may very well eat them too) I had one for a while, before my mated pair of clarkii were a bit too rough on it. It was almost as sticky as my haddoni carpet.

I know their not a hosting anemone, I never intende him to be, I just liked the way he looked and wanted to add something to my tank at the time, will be getting either a LTA or bubble tip anemone soon for my clown, but don't know which one I'm going to get, but when I do get him, I'm going to take my pink tip out and give it away to another good home.

Freaked me out by changing your avatar

Ahh, okay good plan, just don't be surprised if you lose anything more to it. I was glad when my clarkiis killed mine.

Here is a quote from your thread that annetate posted, about your condy (it's on the last page)

Quote:
the top coral in your pic is a xenia coral, they will grow rapidly in a up or out direction, but not down. I believe you need more light to house almost any anemone (around 6 watts per gallon) or it will die in the long run. I hope you are feeding that condy anemone or it may get hungry and eat your fish if you arent careful (there is a pic in my profile of mine eating my copperband). Do you still have the damsels in your tank? If you do, i would probably take them out so you can replace them with friendlier fish. If you dont have them anymore, then its ok. I realize that you said you dont have room under your tank, but the next thing you should get is a sump. It will be the best thing you can do. I remember when i was in your position and I wish I had people to give me advise before i wasted money on things that I would replace in less than 6 months anyway. So research before you buy, and you will save a lot of money!

Such a small sentence in a big paragraph slipped my mind, but still I feed him plenty of silversides all the time 3x a week maybe I should start feeding him more. So that I won't lose my other skunk !!!

even if you feed them they might end up eating your fish, it's just not a good anemone to have with smaller fish or any fish it can grab. There is a reason they are only like $2 (here at LFS in S.W. florida anyways lol)
