another lighting question
My tank is a 90 gallon 48" long tank. I have looking at the Viparspectra lights. I will have mostly live rock for now, but would like to try and keep 1 or 2 corals, like an anemone for instance. The 300w shows a max coverage area of 32x24", while the 165w says 24x24 inches. Would I be better off using 2 of the 165's, or would 1 of the 300's work just as well? Or should I be looking at something completely different?
Thank you again |

If you have a center brace, use two of the 165's. You'll get coverage closer to the ends of the tank by spreading the lights apart farther. Also you wont be wasting the LED's over the brace.

I use 2 Visparspectra, if one goes, still have some available light.
Think the 2 is a little more expensive, but in my case, better coverage as Robzilla states. |

I use 3 165 watt black boxes on my 90..
The center brace was broken when I got the tank.. so I have a home made center brace that doesn't obstruct much light at all Currently my lights are set up as follows - l - Each line is a light It gives me some pretty amazing coverage across the entire tank My 90 is a 4ft tank as well Though the center light being sideways like that puts alot of light into my overflow.. and that has caused it to grow a bit of gha in there.. almost like an unintentional fuge so to speak Sent from my SM-S907VL using Tapatalk |

I hadn't thought of using 3, that's kind of interesting. For now, i'll probably just do the 2 to save a couple bucks as I'm sure I'll want to add things as I get this up and running. But adding a 3rd down the road shouldn't be a problem. And yes the tank does have a center brace btw.
Lights are ordered and will be here in a week, protein skimmer here by the weekend as well as the heaters. So shouldn't be too long now till I can get this thing wet finally. Starting to get impatient |
