1073.05 potentiometer

Hi Roger,

I have a 1073.05 return pump used to be my return pump for my 40 gal breeder. I was trying to run it last night, and it didn't work for the first time. I cleaned it up and got it running. Problem is I am trying to regulate the flow, the potentiometer doesn't seem to be working. Any pin I can measure the resistance to see if potentiometer went bad or not?
Is potentiometer a replaceable part?
If potentiometer went bad, can I still use Apex to regulate the flow?

Thanks,
ZZ

If the potentiometer is the only issue, you can connect an Apex to the DIN port, if the entire control connector went bad, this also won't work. The potentiometer can break internally but will be hard to test without unsoldering it from the small board. It can also happen that this small board has a short and then no control will work until the board is replaced and rarely the problem is a break in the cable and then the only repair is a new pump.

The cable seems to be OK. I'll try to connect it to my Apex tonight. Is potentiometer a replace part I can directly order from you. Or I need to send the pump back to you?

Thanks,
ZZ

It has to be soldered on and it is a no longer available part, I would get it from an older pump that has died. A cable break tends to be outwardly invisible, but one of the 5 wires in the cable can be broken from being kinked hard or pulled. It does look like in the corner to the right of the pot in the photo there is some water damage but that could be due to the lighting.
