When should I change my DI resin?

I have an RO system I use for drinking water and the ice maker.
I tee off to a DI canister that fills my 55gal drum.

I have filled this drum 2X in 2+ years.

How do I know when to change?

In have a TDS inline probe.
40+ incoming, 3 after RO and 2-1 after DI.

agreed. if its goes to 1 or above, then it needs to be changed.... but the vast majority of DI resin on the market these days are color changing. so visually you should be able to see that its just about exhausted honestly...

Often people change it when post di tds is greater than zero..
One should certainly get more than 100gallons out of it though..
Are you giving it a few minutes of running before taking than tds reading?..(you should)..

It is an inline probe, so it reads all the time.
I just thought the cheap probe was not accurate.

I guess I can just buy a bag of resin change the canister and see how it reads now.

It probably dried out. Only used it 2 times in 2 years.

I always change when greater than 0. In the grand scheme of things in the reef hobby, I consider it short money to make sure my water is good.

Where are people buying online at?

Do I need color changing if I have a meter?

I buy mine at Bulk Reef Supply.

Color changing isn't necessary. Just a easy way to see when the resin is being used up.

Bulk Reef Supply or airwaterice.com is also another place. I change mine when I get about 3/4 of the resin changed color. (To me it's better safe than wait until I have issues.) I've also got a inline reader that shows mine going in at 240+ and output is 0.

I prefer spectrapure for my DI carts. Key is to get it fresh.

Buckeye Field Supply is also a good source.
