Wow, I was going to say "The only thing I am more jealous of someone finding at a tidepool is an octopus (hence my username octoshark)" and then as I scroll down to post my reply, what do I see... Just amazing!
You also found the only thing I would be more jealous of, so I can't be any more jealous than I am (and be careful with those Blue Ring's!!!) Actually there is only one more thing that I would be more jealous of: finding a baby reef shark!

Weather was hot today. But tides were good.
Our mission for the weekend was to collect some coral sand and LR for Azumi who is about to set up his new tank. Arty shot from beneath the bridge. This is where we have to climb up and down with our goodies. As you can see there are mangroves everywhere in our part of the world. If you can just see to the right of Azumi's head there is a local aborigine with a spear looking for crabs in the rocks. Sand that we were collecting. Last edited by Lewy; 10/06/2017 at 03:04 PM. |

Two large buckets of LR.
We got there as the tide was going out. An anemone still in the water. How sticky is this. Last edited by Lewy; 10/06/2017 at 03:05 PM. |

Galaxia Stinging Hydroid? Lobos. Two different coloured leathers next to each other. Look how tough they are. Last edited by Lewy; 10/06/2017 at 03:06 PM. |

We found this piece of Duncan and decided to "rescue" it as it was a bit battered.
Lying nearby was this large colony. Tossed around by the large tides and bad weather. We left it as it was upside down. You can see the polyps around the sides starting to turn up to the light. Last edited by Lewy; 10/06/2017 at 03:07 PM. |

Lewy,
Was the blue sponge out of the water during low tide? I thought sponges can't be exposed to air in order to survive. Also, any idea what is that flourescent blue thing that you captured in the picture? Love the pics, keep them coming. |

Nope, no clownfish were found in the anemones, shortly after the photo was taken the tide dropped even lower and the anemones were exposed, so if there were clown fish hosting they would have gone out with the tide.
Have only ever seen clowns hosting in one anemeone out at the location (as seen in the earlier photos) But we for some reason we saw more anemones on this trip than any other. |

VEry lucky you are to be able to collect your own corals for your tank!
Very nice to see that some of those corals are very strong in the wild and can take alot before dieying. Keep the pictures coming |
