Phosphate levels
Hello so on my new tank I tested my phosphates using the the hanna phosphorus tester.
The tank water read 105 bbp with = 0.322ppm and the water directly out of the reactor read 3 bbp = 0.009ppm so I assume I don't need to worry about changing it until it's nearer the tank ppm? Also I guessd the amount of gfo and threw some in my reactor. I'm using rowaphos how much do I need to put in my reactor to cause a dent in reducing my phosphates? We will need to know total system volume, and then there are calculators for how much phosphate media you will need to lower it to within acceptable ranges.
What are you planning on keeping? That will determine what is an acceptable phos level, generally speaking under 0.1 would be a good place to start from. As for your measurements, your hanna measures in ppb (parts per billion), not bbp. Not nit picking, just for your information. |

100 g/100 mL RowaPhos will remove 3ppm of phosphate from 100 US gallons of saltwater.
250 g/250 mL RowaPhos will remove 3ppm of phosphate from 250 US gallons of saltwater. 500 g/500 mL RowaPhos will remove 3 ppm of phosphate from 500 US gallons of saltwater. 1000g/ 1 L RowaPhos will remove 3 ppm of phosphate from 1000 US gallons of saltwater. 5 kg/5 L RowaPhos will remove 3 ppm of phosphate from 4500 US gallons of saltwater.
