Man, it's days like this I'm happy the Steinhart Aquarium is a local attraction I might be too tempting to convert my garage into a massive tank However the building aspect is what usually fascinates me the most.

Guys. Everyone is focusing on the big boy but i think a 3 k gallon sps system will take up more of my time and more challenging. I will be taking pictures of that frame after blue paint is done. Its sitting in my garage. The larger tank will pose different kind of challenges. Like what size quarantine system needed to introduce tons of fish. .?.. We thinking of several 180s stacked. One for copper one for prazzi. One for antibiotic and or just examining F anyone has any good ideas on nutrient control for either system. Nitrate or phosphates id love to hear. Been going back and forth with large reactors of gfo and biopellets Or just going for sulphur denitrator. Not looking foward to changing all that gfo.

Forgive me if you mentioned it, but what are the dimensions of the two tanks? Sitting in the cheap seats, I agree that while the big fish-only tank may be the more "exciting" one to watch get built, 3,000 gallons of SPS goodness will certainly be a more demanding task to maintain. Looking forward to all of it.

Can you tell us more about what the tanks are made of, who made them...etc. I couldn't even imagine where to begin with some thing like that!

Don't worry. Ted. If I don't electricute myself or break my back, I may drown with the comprised air and regulator.

Shawn from elegant aquarium in Ohio built tank. I bid it out with atm and coastal aslo. At the end of day atm was cheaper but didn't buid to this spec and safety ratio. Ie 4 inch thickness. Plus those guys at atm are all about the tanked show and I didn't want that. So here we are. Its fiberglass frame and back. Wiyh honey comb composite in middle of 6 inches of rail frame. Then it's 4 inch acrylic Window on 3 sides.

Not much more I can say than just - WOW!

Impressive build

I may have missed it while I was drooling at the photos, but will the 3k sps (seems wierd to type that) tank be on its own system or will it be plumbed together with the big boy?
