Is this safe to mix my salt water in?

From the description:
Made with food grade plastic, this storage bin can be used for gardens, houses, or farms. It also could be used to store animal feed. I would say it's just fine.

They claim it is food grade, so it should be fine. Many reefers, including myself, use the Brute trash cans for mixing.

I've just noticed when I warm my water up and put the lid on then a few hours later take the lid off it smells like plastic, is this normal? The brute cans are really expensive in the UK.

The plastic smell is pretty normal, I usually don't keep the lids on or don't put them on tight to allow for some air exchange.

No worries on the plastic smell. Not harmful. And will fade with time.

+1 on brute. Only thing I would worry about with that is it doesn't say how thick the plastic is, to thin it might not support a full load of water very well if you put it on a dolly. looking at it it looks similar to the brute, but it might be worth asking on there how thick it is.

Same question here. I was able to pickup two 55 gallon food grade hard plastic barrels that olives were shipped for $20. I’ve been scrubbing, rinsing and baking in sun over and over for about 10 days now. Still when I spray the walls with a nozzle on the hose and will get a very very light glimmer substance of the waters surface. I haven’t wanted to use anything stronger than Dawn dish soap. Any thoughts or advise on if they are clean enough or some other cleaner I can use?
