Possible pest on Candy Cane Coral

Hi,

I have my very fist LPS coral in quarantine now for 5 weeks, and these small white cone shaped things are appearing on my frag. Are they a pest? I didn't recognize it at all from pics of common pests, and they only appeared recently. I did dip the coral before introducing it.

I have had it in quarantine for so long because it had a few bubbles of bubble algae on the frag. I sucked them off without breaking them, and want to make sure they don't grow back before putting it in the DT. However, the coral isn't doing so well, as you can probably see, in quarantine.

They kind of look like pineapple sponges to me but the pic isn't really clear enough to tell...

Hmm, yeah, they do look very similar to that. They have the cone thing on top too. I'll have to look into them a bit.

They are harmless filter feeders, IMO. My tank had a ton during the first year of “new tank syndrome”
