My Little Piece of Reef

I finally have picked up enough courage to post my tank in Youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMfsmU8hvEw

The music was picked by my wife.

This 75-gallon tank has been upgraded in equipment and slowly transformed from softies & lps to mixed reef since 1.5 years ago. For the past few years, this tank had its shares of up and down.

All SPS started from 1 to 1.5" frags. You can see the Bali green slimer and Miami Orchid are the fast growers.
The 6-line wrasse and the Purple tang have been in the tank for about 10 years; so are some of the softies.

Enjoy!

Looks great! You're right; the Slimer and Orchid are very fast growers! I look forward to seeing this tanks progression. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Kasey.
Once the parameters kept stable, the corals seem to grow faster.

I have seen so many beautiful and well kept reefs from so many experts in RC. And I had quite a bit of problem in the past and am new in sps. So that's why I have been hesitant.
Anyway, thanks for your kind words.

One thing I would like to point out is that the zoa from the old photo has lost all the red color. You can see that in the second picture. I don't know what caused this. Anybody has similar experience????

Folks, I just updated the tank video. It has been over 7 months.
No drastic changes. My 10 yrs old 6-line died and was replaced by a mystery and a yellow coris wrasses. Again, the slimer and miami orchid grow like weeds. I will thin them down very soon. All SPS were started with 1 to 1.5" frags.
The parameters are quite stable after I began using 2-part via 2 dosers.
Still trying to learn to shoot video under led.
So enjoy! Hope you like it.

Awesome growth!! Saw the FTS on both videos and the miami orchid and green slimer doubled if not tripled in size.

This is a half year update.
Because of STN I have lost good sizes of pink lemonade, miami orchid and bali green slimer. I do save a few small frags of them (not slimer) and hope they will grow back to nice size of colonies.

I do have a few photos to share with you:
Red planet is my favorite.
Nasuta? and Pink Milli? are small colonies. (Sorry I am not sure about their names, but they are pretty.)
The rest are just small frags.

Nasuta ?

Sucks about the STN. But at least you got some nice frags still. What T5 bulbs are you currently using? I am going to buy some of the ATI Coral+ tubes next month. They looked really nice at the LFS. I think together with the Royal Blue LED's, they will be popping those SPS colours.

I believe your Nasuta is a Nasuta, and my god, those blue polyps look tasty!

Hi Sahin, I have redone my LEDs. Now I have 2 x12 royal blue strips.
The arrangement is:

Back
ATI Blue+
12 3w Creed Royal Blue leds
Giesemann Lagoon Blue
12 3w Creed Royal Blue leds
ATI Coral+
Front

I like the end results of this combination. It is kind of crispy white with a tint of blue.

I've never seen the Giesemann Lagoon Blue... how does it compare in looks to the ATI Coral+ and ATI ABSpecial?
