So a golden tail? I have not heard the possibility of that one yet. Here are some more pictures. The Bucket one is the day I brought the eel home. Do any other Eel keepers want to chime in? It seems very hard to id these because there are many patterns that are close.

ok Gymnothorax meleagris, when I use that as a search topic I get some images that look like my Eel. But this leads to a whole new bunch of questions. The common name here was turkey Moray, or White-mouthed Moray, and the care instructions say these can get up to 1.2 meters. I was told my Eel is already 9+ years old and it is only 2 feet. At what age do they stop growing? Was mine stunted from former conditions?
By the way I want to Thank you for the help with this. |

I am and have always been a fan of morays. Here's mine. Something at the other end of the scale in both size and price. The best £20/$30 I have ever spent. My white eyed moray.
I am looking for another and a Gymnothorax melatremus now, . |

Olemiss reb, would you mind giving some details on your ribbon eels? I'm interested in your setup and process of getting them to take frozen foods. What did you feed them at the start, how did you acclimate? Any thoughts on what has helped you succed so far?

Here is my Zebra. I got him from DD in about 5yrs ago. I was able to keep it for 2yrs before I had to tear down my 125g and move. I was lucky a local RC member took him in for a couple years and held him until I was able to setup the tank again. I got it back about 4 months ago. It is over 30" long now.
Here is a pic from the day I got it This is the day I got it back Here is a more recent pic

I'm not sure if the growth rate of my zebra eel is fast or slow but mine grew from 18-20" to about 30" in 5-6yrs.

That Skelly is neat looking.
Does anyone know a good source for the latin Names of these common Eels? so many patterns look like each other, and knowing a Latin Name can help get better info on each type. |

Anyone ever pulled this little stunt. My girlfriend insisted releasing my new eel by hand.
This was about 7 months ago now and at the time of purchase she/he was 23"
