question about Tek Light versus Grow Light

I wasn't getting any responses in the SLS forum, so I thought I would post here and see if anyone could tell me anything:

Hello,
I've got a lead on a used growlight that I'm interested in, but I don't know much about them, and had a couple of questions.

I've been told it's this one.

Are the ballasts in the grow lights triads?

Will it accept an acrylic shield like the Tek Light?

Other than the one power cord, are there any other differences between the models?

Thanks a bunch for the help!

Capt' Dave-

Not sure; but you know you can crush that price, and be assured that the TEK fixture you want has all the aquarium goodies.... It had the Triad ballasts, can take the legs, and the acrylic shield, etc. The bulbs they're offering are in the $10/ea. range, and you don't want more than 1 or two in there... The good ones are more $$.

www.seedsetc.com

Go to: Seed Catalog, and you'll see the Aquarium supplies area.

The fixture is $360; it'll help pay for the bulbs.

thanks for the response, Andy. The only reason I'm looking at the Grow Light fixture is that it's a used one, and a good price. So I'm trying to figure out what the differences are between that and the Tek.

you do bring up another good point about the legs though, anyone know if the Grow Light will accept them?

I think the grow lights only have one plug and one on/off switch while the Tek lights have two.

yeah you're right, they do. I figure that's not that big of a setback. I'm more concerned about the reflectors and ballasts, I figure I can always add another plug if I need to.
