My Aquarium of the Pacific picture thread

I was down in LA on business last week and was able to slip away for a few hours and hit up this aquarium. I thought it wouldn't be busy since I was there mid-week around noon, boy was I wrong! There was a field trip with about 1000 kids running around and screaming "Nemo!", eh. Oh well, they cleared out soon as the place was empty. I took about 200 pics and am still processing some. Most of these were taken with my 30D and 24-105L as the IS really helped in the low light. The conditions sucked as many of the tank had curved glass which causes distortions. I did the best I could. Enjoy!

Yep, without a tripod. The shot of the Lionfish was taken at 1/13 of a second, good luck without a tripod of IS on that one, lol.

Nice shots.

Using a bounced flash setup works also.

yes, only canon has IS...

Nikon has VR and Sigma has OS, they are all called different things, but essentially do the same thing...

Yep, the lens has the IS and not the body. And the 3rd picture is of a large hammer colony, I don't see a blue coral in there. Am I looking at the correct pic?

It was the IS The shot of the lion fish was handheld at 1/13 of a second, no way that would have come out without IS. It also helped that he obviously wasn't moving very fast
