Anyone looking for S. gigantea?

My LFS just got in a few S. gigantea. They have a few tan and one blue one. All of my gigs have either come from this shop or other hobbyists. I'll post photos after they settle in.

Aquatic Collection: 510-259-6280

They'll ship too.

I'd love one but I think I'm finally over it.

Thanks for the heads up. Got the blue. Got my last blue from them and sold it to a fellow rc member. Hope this one does as well.

Got three gigs from them this morning. They are being monitored and medication treatment is ready if needed.

If you treat them, to ensure the best possible results, keep them in separate aquariums and don't mix any of the water.

Agreed with D-Nak. Best chances of survival. One can have a worse infection then the others. More work and cost. But best chance if they go down.

Good store good peeps. Shopped there when I lived there. To bad my tank is only 1 month old or I would have had to grab the blue one.

I’d definitely get them separated. IMO, only the one on the top looks healthy.

Updates

Here are some pics of the gigs. They have gone through the 3 day of treatment, but I did skipped one day of treatment last night.

Getting there. Looks like the one in the first photo is still expelling dead zoox. That should be removed immediately. Use a turkey baster to carefully suck it away from the mouth.

Don't skip days in the treatment process. The goal is to continuously have the antibiotics in the tank to prevent the pathogen from recovering. The treatment needs to be at least 5 days even if they look good.

Thanks for the feedback. I removed the dead zoox immediately when I saw it. All gigs will go to a full 7 days treatment and I intend to keep them in my QT tank for 7 addition days (observation).

On another note: I find 10 gals for QT tank is a lot especially you have to do water change with new med every night. Therefore, I use a 5 gals container and cut the med in half. All light, PH and heater are set up appropriately in the QT.

I agree. I use 10 gallon tanks but only fill them up half way. Only for large nems do I use the full 10 gallons.
