I live in Johnson City, TN (hour from Asheville).

Are there any fish stores in the Asheville area?

No there is another one on Haywood rd in west Asheville. He has been open for a year. Kind of smaller but nice. Then there is wnc aquarium in Arden, near the airport. I suggest to stay away from there.

I forgot about that one on Haywood Rd. Only been there one time and it was right after they opened so it lacked a LOT. Hopefully they have improved since then.

Yea it has improved. It's as big as Asheville Aquarium but he does have a nice little selection of corals and a few dozen of fish. I will say it's a lot cleaner than wnc. I never been to mtn to sea. Where are they located?

Mtn to Sea is owned by Shawn (I think that's how to spell her name) who used to work for Dave at TAA.

It's down just off of Biltmore Ave going out towards fletcher on the old road.

Mountain to Sea Aquariums
14 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, North Carolina 28803
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mount...48045185223350

If you turn right onto Sweeten Crk Road in Biltmore it's less than a mile or so on the right. If you get to Asheville Bolts & Screws (I'm not positive that's the exact name but you'll see it on your left) you've gone a few hundred feet too far. It's easy to pass because the only signage is a yellow fish flag sticking out from the front of the brick building. The entrance is actually on the far side of the building from inside the fenced in parking lot.

I'd say worth a trip out there at least to see what she has in stock currently. I've not been over there in months (I avoid Asheville LOL) but when I am in town and have a few minutes I stop by just to check it out.

If memory serves me well (and I stress IF) there are quite a few reefers down there. You may want to also check out the club Reef Aquarium Society of Charlotte. They have members all over the state (I'm a member and I'm way up here on the western most tip of the state).

I'm still in Waynesville and researching to set up a new system very soon. There's a fairly active group on FB called Mountain Area Reef Club

The only one worth going to is High Tide Aquarium, 1550 Hendersonville Rd #114. He's only been open a year and a half but has some nice stuff. Hours are odd so check the Google or web site before you go.
