Eclipse M or L?
Which over flow for a 75g reef. Return pump is a Jeboa type DC rated around 1000-1320gph at 0 ft 100% power, cant remember the exact rating. At 5ft its about 700 gph ish. So the Eclipse M is large enough and I would use both drains in a modified bean animal. Or would you go for the larger Eclispe L and run a true bean animal. I like the longer overflow box but kind of think 3 drains is to much plumbing going on.

Was about to comment that the Vectra L has more quality complaints than the M ...... but then realized you weren't asking about a pump . Definitely go with the Eclipse L. Bean is better than herbie, and it's always good to have a bit of extra capacity (1,000 gph versus 800).

Its only too much plumbing until that one time it saves you from a flood.. Then its just right

Ok I will go with the L and do a bean animal drain. 1 full syphon, 1 partial syphon and 1 emergency drain. Anyone know where I can find a return line kit? I want to drill the back of the back of the tank for the return also and I have seen kits that include, diamond hole saw, loc line, bulkhead ect bit can seem to find them.

Glass holes sells return kits with an option to include the hole saw as well.

I was looking at off the shelf overflow boxes recently.
I would definitely get the L over the M for a 75 gallon tank, for the reasons stated (Bean, more flow, more surface skimming). It's still only 12" wide though. I see the Synergy has a 16" wide one. Are there wider options?

Synergy also makes a 20 incher and I believe Modular Marine makes 36 incher and can probably custom make a larger one.

I used the 36" MM on my big tank. Could have gone even wider, but didn't feel like waiting for a custom model.

Thanks, guys.
I've been cursing my overflow system lately. I have a 6 foot 125 with those big, hideous megaflow overflows. If I built another tank, I would want one overflow instead of two. It just seems silly to have a long tank with only 16" of skimming with the overflow, but I'm not sure about building a coast to coast in the tank with glass.

Glass holes yep that was it, fou d it last night. Ordering a 3/4 return kit. Yeah I dont like the large in tank overflows at all especailly the mega flow since they suck at surface skimming. In tanks just take up way to much room. I would rather drill the back of the tank for a slim ghost overfow.
