Just hooked up Apex

After much procrastination an 5 months or more I have hooked up the Ethernet cable between my Verizon router and to the Apex Ethernet port and the light is yellow and blinking. Hoping for a Love American style

intro but nothing, I searched my computer that looks like a icon but I could not find anything. So the first big question What do I need to do next. PS this is a 5 year old Mac. Thanks in advance I will be leaving to visits my Dad so I will be working on this when I get home.
