I do not mean to offend ching chai, but I had never seen this tank before when I said that ching's was the most single best re-creation of a reef environment. The colors and tabling of the corals in this tank are absolutely stunning, not to mention the frag tank systems in the basement. And that ATB skimmer is a giant like no other! Hands down the best tank I have ever seen in my life.

Thank you for being real, and not just talking about your successes. Stories like yours encourage people like me to continue on even after complete losses. Two years after wiping out all my fish and corals, I still am rebuilding,I too will march on

Magnificent Luc
I have been considering using ceramic as a biomedia, what kind of ceramic did you use and did you place it under the substrate in your display. I am currently battling dinoflagalettes and wondering if you've had the battle and if so , how did you remedy it. Cal |

I have some zeolitstones (4kg) in the sump where the water runs trough, furthermore i use kalium jodid fluor, zeobak, coral vitalizer an now an then amino`s,the last one only when ik think the tank is too poor on nutrients.

Cal,
thanks,i have used ceramic made by a friend Wolle, this ceramic is very light an it absorbs a lot of water when you put it into the water so in my eyes it can work later good for baterial live. I have now and then small spots in the tank but i don`t do anything, they dissepear by themslef after a while. Quote:

Steve, thanks,i like it better that way
After posting that I felt I was out of place for doing so because when it comes to tanks like yours and this one there really is no judging as they are so magnificent in their own right that you cannot say which ones which one is better. Both yours, luc's, peter's, and I am sure many more out there that are what we as hobbyist and reefkeepers strive to re-create in our own homes. You are the inspiration in this hobby that gives us the driving on to keep doing this, even in the face of failure. Best of luck to to you, Luc and the rest of the truly marvelous tanks out there. |
