Gyre pump, which one to buy?
So I had planned on two gyres in the 360 to begin with, now which ones should I buy to use with my Apex and run a similar program to the BRS 160s.
Maxspect Gyre XF280 icecap box IceCap 3k what box does it need to work with Apex if at all? Jebao CP-55 with aqualink I would like real world user replies not unverified opinions please. |

Another question to add to this, does anyone just sell the pump and power supply with out the controller?

Haven't owned the 2xx series gyres, but I've owned two of the older Maxspect gyres (130 and 150.) Sold the 130 with my old tank but I've had the 150 for almost 2 years now. No issues with either one and they are made quite well, IMO. The Jebao is sort of a cheap, unlicensed knock-off and the Ice cap is a budget friendly version of the Maxspect. If it were me, I'd get the Maxspect ones, provided money isn't the deciding factor. On Coralvue's website, you can order just the XF 280 pumps without the Maxspect controler and save some $$ since you are running it through APEX with the icecap link. http://www.coralvue.com/maxspect-xf280-gyre-pump

I have a Jebao CP-40 on my shallow reef and I like it so far. I just watched the BRS vid yesterday, verycol how they set that up too bad the Jebao isn't able to be controlled by Apex.

I had 4 FX280 Maxspect Gyre pumps in my tank, they are currently in the for sale forum.
You can get just the pump if you look around. I think Premium Aquatics has some. They are great pumps and move a lot of water but the noise level was too much for my house. We could hear them when sleeping. If your tank is a good distance away from your bedroom I would not hesitate to use them.

Sold my xf280 because it is a bit loud, though flow was great.
