Adding t5 bulbs to led lights over existing reef tank
I'm going hybrid lights method over my established reef tank with mainly lps and sps corals. I'm removing some of my led lights and replacing them with t5 fixtures.
I'm putting a total of 8 bulbs over my 400 gallon tank. Being that t5 is not dimmable light, how can I safely aclimate my corals to it? I was thinking only to plug in 2 bulbs at first. Or put the light on 1 hour per day timer. Or just let it all go for 8 hours per day. |

I added 4 T5s to my LEDs about 2 years ago. I went with 1 hour/day, and added 1 hour each week. I never messed with the LED spectrum, intensity, or height above the tank. Last summer, at 18 months, I ordered 4 new bulbs. I replaced 1 every 2 weeks. Mixed reef and no issues. The even spread of T5s is really nice.

Thank you for reply, what bulbs you use. Mine came with all actinic bulbs, and I likes how that looks, added 2 coral plus bulbs and it gave a little yellowish look to tank.
I liked all actinic better. |
