Anyone dose vodka to lower nitrates?

I just tested for nitrates and they seem to be high. I was reading on here about dosing vodka to lower it. Whats your guys opinion on this and has anyone tried it?

I've been thinking about it. Pretty good write up with a link on Melevsreef.com:
http://www.melevsreef.com/vodka_dosing.html I can't seem to get my nitrates below 10 and I think my corals would benefit if I could feed more.

One question I have is if you start dosing vodka do you need to run phosban anymore??

That was probably due to the blurred vision....

Initially yes, but I stopped after a little over a year. Some continue to run it anyways though.

I dose it and have good luck with it. I think it helps to have a deeper sand bed to give the bacteria a place to live.
