Wow. Now I remember why I always like being in this subforum. You don't get to see that kind of pictures very often.

And can you explain more from the term "one polyp"? Do you just frag the tip of a sps? Or just a piece containing 1 polyp extension?

Just divide by 4, or 3.96 if you're really anal.

Machado,
Amazing setup! That must have taken a LOT of work to get to that point. Congratulations on your success.

This are the only ATI Tubes I use:

I Combine:
Maternity - 60% Blue Special with 40 % Blue Plus (to enhance coral growing)
Nursery - 50% Blue Special with 40 % Blue Plus
Day Care - 50% Blue Special with 40 % Blue Plus

Tank you for your kind words.

That is true, this is a god way to avoid over colecting corals from theyre natural habitats to tsustain the aquarium hobbies.

what are monthly costs of running a system like that. how long has it been running, what are some problems you encounter?

Please show pics of your display tank, that thing looks awesome as well.

Please show from start to finish how you frag your corals. Are the flower plugs filled w/ cement or any filler?

lots of questions, i think everyone is in awwe right now.

Hello jerryz,

I only use T5 tubes in all tanks, including algae filters and mangs.
About wattage:

Maternity: 4 Blue Special 80W + T5 4 Blue Plus 80W = 640W

Nursery: 3 Blue Special 80W + T5 3 Blue Plus 80W = 480W

Day-care: 5 Blue Special 80W + T5 5 Blue Plus 80W = 800W

Mangroves tank: 4 Sunpro 54W= 216W

Algae filter: 2 Sunpro 54W= 108W

It depends on the size of the radial or axial polyps esclerites.

If the esclerite is prominent to allow its collect, it is possible to remove it. In corals like Acropora multiacuta, for exemple, seen in this pic below, is possible to do it.

Other cases, with less prominent esclerits, you need to collect more than one polyp to propagate.

Of course this metode has high associated costs and is only recommended for rare or expensive colonys.

Definately the best looking prop systems I personally(and most of us) have seen. The colors are outstanding, and all from T5s. Very Impressive!! I may be in Portugal(Chaves)next year to visit the inlaws, are you giving any tours? Keep up the great work!!

Hi Machado,

Sweet system you've got there. I must visit you soon.

Why did you choose T5 over MH?

Do you have live rock in the system?

Why didn't you use any substrate in the tanks?

Congratulation, that is really amazing!
