Here's one I snapped a little while ago. Thought it was interesting b/c it's normally long polyp/tentacles were all scrunched in for some reason:

Here are some pictures of mine. They love to be fed. I got this as a 9 head piece about a year and a half ago.

Why is it that with duncans and candy canes, they're referred to as "heads" but with other corals, they're called "polyps?"

Is it because when you call it a head, it's easier to get people to part with a chunk of money for it?

Just imagine a zoanthid polyp for $20 each, then a duncan head for $20 each. It just sounds more expensive to pay for the zoanthid than it does the duncan.

well polyp and head kinda go hand in hand. the polyp comes out of the head.

zoa's dont have heads, cause they grow on a mat.

i dont have to imagine a zoa polyp for 20$ each, cause it already exists and people pay 100$ or more for a single polyp where as i've never seen someone pay 100$ for a single head of duncan.

i paid 50$ for about 20 heads of duncan, would i pay 50$ for 20 polyps of zoa's that i couldn't resist? def.

the meaning of polyp/head doesn't effect price.

please help i think my duncans are not feeding rite! They have all shrunk up even though i feed them with brine shrimp and add photoplankton. I have had them for a month now and they have been fine. The water quality is ok but we are new to this and have only had the tank for three months. Any advice please?

I would start a new thread, but neither of those things you're feeding are necessarily helping (or hurting) them. Include your parameters.
