Pairing up fire shrimps
Hi All,
I have a fire shrimp that I love in my 65G, he has been there about 8 months. I would love to have a pair of them. I know they are hermaphrodites - but does it mean that if I buy another one they would pair up for sure? Or they could be fighting? I saw a pair of fire shrimps once on Divers Den, but we really like our, his name is Rudolph, would like to keep him. The pair is anyway long gone and I have not seen another one since. Very interested in hearing your experience with pairing fire shrimps. -Magik |

Lysmata sp. are pretty peaceful.
That痴 why in most lfs they値l have 30 juveniles together in a tank with very little or no aggression whatsoever. Though once you have a mated pair they値l become territorial and will no longer tolerate intruders. So YES get any other one and they値l be buddies no problem. Two is company threes a crowd for these guys. And it applies to all lysmata. I致e had mated l. Amboinensis stress l. Debelius and l. Wurdemanni to death. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If you want a pair quickly, the newcomer should be fairly big.
You値l most likely catch them releasing larvae around 10-11 pm . Mating is low key , we usually miss it. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

What if you have one that is kind of big already and a year old? Go tiny?
