White Lace Coral - Triphyllozoon sp.
There isn't a forum for Bryozoans so I'm posting here. I have a 83 reef that was a fowlr just two months ago. Other then red tree forams and Sycon sponges, nothing ever grew on my live rock. I added a couple pieces of new live rock and frags, A. yongei and M. capricornus.
Since then, I have noticed the appearance of what I at first though were hydroids. These colonies are still growing and showing their lace pattern. I am pretty sure they are Triphyllozoon sp. I will try to get a good pic tonight for conformation. Anyways, my Triphyllozoon sp. have hydroid polyps. Do I need to worry about these stinging sps corals? One is growing at sand level in full lighting, the other in a cave with no lighting. Can they grow in most lighting? How big do they get? They started as 1-3 mm "sprigs" and are now 2-3 cubic inches. I thought their presence might mean I have too many organics, but my nitrates stay below 5 pmm, usually close to 0, I get half a cup of skimmate from my Remora C every two days, and my two frags are growing and coloring up. My basic tank parameters are in my signature.
