TY Rapid LED!!

I called Rapid LED today and left a message to find out some info regarding tapping and drilling my heat sink and to find out what size tap & die I should use. Mike the owner called me back and we spoke and I mentioned that Home Depot does not carry the M3 Screws.
So what did Mike say?? He told me he would ship out the screws absolutely for free. I offered to compensate and he said I'm not going to charge you for screws.. and we laughed.
So I thought I would post this up to let you all know that they go ABOVE & BEYOND to help.

So Thank You Mike!!!

Regards...
OPG!!

I used a 2-56 tap. You can get 2-56 screws at Radio Shack a long with the heatsink paste. If your light system is close to the water though, you might want to get stainless steel screws which are available for cheap online.

Hey OzoneParkGuy

What was the spacing between the 2 holes?

and what spacing did you decide on between each led?

DAMNNN Mike that was quick!!! From Ca to NYC in 2 days! It takes longer to send my mail to Florida.... lol and we just spoke on Friday. HAHAHAAA, Thanks! A++++

@ clockman... I went with the M3's because I already had the tap for it. So when Mike and I spoke and he stated M3's I was like bingo! So now that they arrived these will be used for my second DIY LED project. Thanks for the info regarding the size of the tap you used and where to get the screws for them.

@dannym.... I spaced my LED's exactly 1.75(1.3/4)"s apart from center diode to diode. They suggest you do not exceed the maximum which is 2"s apart.
As far as the spacing requirements if you'll notice on the starboard there are 6 holes for screws.. each hole is spaced .25" or (1/4)" from each other. So you mark and then drill according to the position you want and have aligned your LED's in. Remember to also align the leds positive to negative to make wiring a little easier if your going to use thermal adhesive. Rapid LED should have the spec's worksheet from Cree regarding the LED's if I remember.

My DIY LED Build

GL to all you DIYer's..

Same fixture but now on a custom 180 gal...
