So it's been almost a year sadly since I have any updates! So sometime life get's in the way and you have to make time for the things you love to do. Work, family, and taking care of my parents has been the priority over the last year. Sadly my Dad past away a few weeks ago but he lived a long great life which is all you can really ask for right? This year I set a few goals, lose some weight get in better shape, and get that reef tank finally going as well as finishing my basement.
Yesterday I took off the "diaper insulation" that was put on when the contractor built the house. Putting up Rigid Foam instead, which will be a much better product IMO in the long run for any water/mold issues that could arise. I will frame in front of this and use Roxul stone wool insulation between the studs to increase the R value. After that bust out the drain move it the outside wall for the mop sink an for water changes. After that grind the floor and put down commercial epoxy with solid flake. More to come soon... Have also been looking at equipment, still not decided but leaning L1 Vectra for my sump for return to two (2) Seaswirls in the main tank and, will also feed the 60 gallon deep blue frag tank. I am mainly leaning to the L1 since they rate fairly well and I plan on putting two (2) Ecotech batteries for back up to the L1. Also purchased a relatively inexpensive generator for backup, and for tailgating of course. (wanted a Honda but I could by three of these for the cost of the Honda) In the pic this will be the same epoxy finish floor in my fish room, I did this in my garage last fall...

Bought some more equipment. Although I really wanted to get a Life Reef Skimmer I got a steal on a used AquaMaxx Cone skimmer if I don't like it will switch to a Life Reef. Lighting - I have read so many LED, Back to MH, & T5 threads and changed my mind multiple times. After reading FarmerTy's build thread I am going to try two (2) Ocean revives with my old 250W MH Lumenbright Radium in the center supplemented by a ReefBrite Actinic LEd. I may also add a T-5 buld or two for supplementation but we will see.

I had to move the original drain because the contractor of course put it in the wrong spot. Set drain, re-poured floor had to some grinding in preparation of new epoxy floor.

Slowest build? Hah!! Don't make claims you can't support
I started designing in 2014 and just now bought the house in which the tank will be put ~ 2018... now that's sllooooooow You're blazing ahead in comparison. So how did you fix the drain? Did you break the slab down to the pipes?

Painted the base coat grey 100% epoxy, followed by epoxy clear coat and solid flake to give it a little texture. One more clear coat to seal in the flakes. Once this is done I will install RFP (shower wall) on the back & side walls. Then on to building a stand for 80 gallon Deep Blue frags and odd fish tank. The 80 will also hold the few fish & corals I currently have in my Rubbermaid trough until the 300 is on line.

Pic of 60G deep blue frag tank and where new fish will quarantine for a month or two before being moved to the 300G. Room is still a mess but it's coming along.
