wow thanks for the replies all. I will take all of this home and show the wife as no internet access at home, so maybe a picasso rather then a clown would be a better option in the long run?

Yes, for the long run.

I have a clown trigger in a 210gal with a picasso, porci puffer, dogface puffer, and sailfin tang. They are all happy now, but I may run out of room before too long...

My CT is mostly aggressive during feeding time.

The problem with them being aggressive at feeding time is they can accidently bite another fish and realize hey, this tastes good... and it's downhill pretty quick from there.

Wrong..... they don't eat fish flesh i try many times with many of them ,they will take it in there month and spit it back out.
But they will eat any molluscan.

Tell that to my school of damsels I had in my aggressive tank...

Oh wait, you cant, they went to damsel heaven by way of a clown trigger stomach.

I actually watched him eat three or four of the damsels, bit it and shook, half a damsel sank to the floor, the other half must have "magically" disappeared and it was just coincidental that it happened to be inside a clown trigger mouth at the time.

I'm talking about cutting a fish and try to feed it to the Clown trigger they will not eat it ...... they go after small live fish i have them kill small damsels but i can not say they eat them.
Some say they do eat them ,i can say i saw mine do that, every time i try to feed mine a flounder fillet or any other fish the will take it in the mouth and spit it back out .
That is my experience with my two clown triggers so far.

But wish me luck he may eat all my corals and fish soon
The Clown trigger is now in the reef for two months.
He is now 3"+ long .

Look he may eat the small Six line and the small Ocellaris clown you never know

I had i big clown trigger in the smaller reef i had for five years , the only time he was getting aggressive was at feeding time .
At 9" long he was a very easy going fish ,even with smaller fish.
But you never know they are individuals so your miles may very .
Here is a picture of him at five years old still at my friends 400G tank.

I have a near 8" clown, posted about it many times. I will be upgrading to a 240 as soon as reef specialty gets my new skimmer in. I hope it gets much bigger, but don't think it will become the killer just yet, but if it does, I will be sure to show a picture of me chewing on my flip flop. I don't doubt that some do and at smaller sizes. I've returned a 4" clown that was insane. Any fish that looked comfortable it would try to bit a hole in.

I agreed 100% with you.
That is why i do extensive testing on the Clown trigger fish before i put them in my reef tank.
So far 75% of them are nice and calm some are not i quarantine them and i put them in a smaller tank and i try to see if they misbehave with different corals and fish i can easily tell after some time.
Here is some pictures .
I like pictures
Here is one CT in 2002 in quarantine .
I keep them in the there for 6 weeks .
After that they go in a tank with LR and some fish .
I then try different corals to see if they eat /destroy them .
Here is another picture with some corals and a CT for testing that is in 2004 .

So far i have to replace only one tunze pump. I got smart i use a plastic black Electrical Conduit around the cords, i just cut it in half and run the wires in there, i just use nylon cable ties to keep them from coming loose / sliding , works good.
I also find out if you have some small/ medium pebbles in the tank for them to play with they will leave things along.
I only have BB tanks so it is nothing for them to past there time with, like sand they love to move and blow in to sand but i have corals in the tank and they don't like to get a sand shower every day.

No and almost certainly.
