Very happy with it. Did a couple of power out tests and no issues. It was a bit difficult to remove and add the sections - found that dipping one end in really hot water for 20 sec helped connecting sections Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Fishy update: bought two leopard wrasses on Friday. A large female blue star (aka peacock) wrasse about 4" and a smaller 2.5" ornate wrasse (appears to be transitioning to male). Both went into the sand. Peacock came out to investigate yesterday in the pm , tried feeding him frozen but quickly went back into sand. Ornate came out today also in the afternoon. Dropped some arcipods and Frozen mysis. Took to the frozen mysis immediately and has been munching them down for the last hour! So happy! Hope he mentors the peacock!

Reefer 250 build
A few moments later the peacock leopard emerges. Was worried that I would spook it but managed to get another half cube of mysis in there. She saw the ornate downing them and so she tried a few and spat them out. A few min later she appears to be chewing on them. I quickly added another half of cube of mysis, some arcipods and some flakes... I am making it rain food tonight!

Oh the tension of waiting to see if the new critters will start eating nicely!
Strangest thing I've had happen is a blue/green chromis who only wanted frozen stuff and wouldn't touch any pellets. |

My ornate leopard(female) will eat nothing but pods. She will poke at a pellet from time to time, but usually spits them out.

New leopard wrasses are settling well. All the fish seem to be getting along swimmingly! (No more charging between leopards, yay). They are also super smart! Here are some picks at feeding time. The autofeeder has a mix of nls small and medium pellets and some flakes.
A few pellets drop down first and we have a chase Most pellets however stay at the surface so the bipartitus female 'piano' first starts banging the feeding station to get a few pellets to drop down Sometimes the shrimp gets in there and releases some pellets Then she gets in the feeding station to get more pellets, and more pellets drop down to the other fish waiting below Eventually, both leopards get in there The ornatus leopard wrasse is gorgeous. Can't tell if it is a female or a male though. Do you spot the change in patterns ; perhaps she is transitioning into male Here are some of my other fish Love the canary wrasse... Really nice looking fish! Maybe someday when my tank matures a bit.

It's actually an eheim feeding station https://www.eheim.com/en_GB/products...feedingstation Ensures that the food falls down into water column and not just float to the overflow. Good design, very happy with it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

4 month update: fish doing great and happy. Water is still ridiculously clean. No detectable nitrates, phosphates ranges between 0 to 0.05 phosphates. Had some issues of a few sps losing color. To remedy - I dropped alk down from 11 .6 to 8.6, cut lights from 85 to 65 % (and changes out the 80 to 120deg lens to even out the par), and feeding fish and corals more. Noticing some improvements in the color of the sps, but it's been slow. My fuge has a small ball of chaeto that is lit at night.

1 month growth pics.... The pics are not the greatest, but they show the changes well i think. So the really big movers were the monti's (forest fire digitata and christmas cap. Also good encrustation from some acros including the blueberry wine, cold water, cali torts and slimer. Birdsnest is doing great also. The two slowest movers were the red planet and the tenuis.
Just curious - is this typical growth rates of sps frags ? ... trying to gauge if i am on the right track! thanks! |

IMHO you are on the right track and moving along very nicely. For just a month in a fairly new tank, your corals appear to be doing very well.
The thing to remember is that a small sps frag has very few areas of growth, say 2 or 3 tips and the base encrustation. But a good size colony of an sps coral may have 10, 20 or more growing tips. It seems like the colony is growing faster, but it's not, it's just growing more. There is a difference. Or an sps plating coral frag has only a 3" growth ring along the outside edge, but a colony that is just 6 inches in diameter has almost 19" of growth ring. So even with the same growth rate as the small frag, it will grow a lot more new coral. Bigger corals don't grow faster, they just grow more. Some day in the not too far off future you will be fragging colonies down so they don't grow into each other.

A few updates;
My blue star aka peacock wrasse piano is turning from a female to a male! I noticed her colors were a bit off the past week and was worried that she is getting sick. Took some picks and compared... Two weeks ago (0ct 10) she is clearly a female; black and white belly and the body is... well the perfect sunset Today s(he) looks like this Note more pink on face, new marks on belly and dark bands emerging on ventral and dorsal fins. Cool! Just hope the sex change isn't going to change the mellow tank atmosphere. After about one month of hiding in a rock, my purple firefish is finally out and about. He disappeared after I added the leopard wrasse a month ago. I guess he though they were carnivorous. He always freaks out when I change something. Didn't see him for a month after I moved him from nano to reefer. Finally - some new pics of pretty corals with the dslr Some new zoas - eagle eye The new sps frag - shockaholic. It's greenish yellow with nice soft blue polyps And the blue Cali tort is showing a great range of color Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
